It's spring in Forest Acres and local events are in FULL BLOOM! Hopefully, you've already enjoyed a bit of fun at the Forest Acres Spring Fling and/or The Big Nosh. But that's just the beginning!! Forest Acres Farmers Market EVERY WEDNESDAY beginning 4/28 l 3-7 PM On the Roof of Midtown at Forest Acres Each Wednesday (April 28 throughout the summer) you can liven up your larder with locally-grown foods and enhance your life with crafts produced right here in the Midlands. Mark your calendar for 3-7 PM every Wednesday to browse extraordinary products & excellent produce on the rooftop! Baskin Robbins 31-Cent Night Wednesday, April 28, 2010 l 5-10 PM Baskin Robbins on Forest Drive Join your friends & neighbors at Baskin Robbins on Forest Drive for its fourth annual 31-Cent Scoop Night! Purchase a 2.5 oz. scoop of ice cream for 31 cents (limit 3 scoops per person) and help Baskin Robbins celebrate its $100,000 donation to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation from which our local firefighters can benefit. Rooftop Rhythms Thursday, April 29, 2010 l 5-9 PM On the Roof of Midtown at Forest Acres Bring your lawn chairs and your family for a night of free live music under the stars! Rooftop Rhythms, the popular musical event of the Forest Acres Restaurant and Merchants’ Association (FARMA) and the City of Forest Acres, returns this spring with great bands and great food. The family-friendly event will feature two different bands and offer fare from local restaurants. Admission is free, and food and beverages will be available to purchase with cash. Hooligan's FREE ICE CREAM DAY for Harvest Hope Food Bank Saturday, May 1, 2010 l 11:30 AM - 2 PM Hooligan's (Trenholm Plaza) Bring a nonperishable food item and join Cool Can Sam for a FREE ice cream! Capital City Jazz Band Concert (under the direction of Drew Loeffler) 7-9 PM l Tuesday, May 4, 2010 St. Michael & All Angels' Episcopal Church - Sturtevant Hall 6408 Bridgewood Road (Bridgewood @ Trenholm) Under the direction of Drew Loeffler, top jazz musicians and singers from the Columbia area will perform modern and traditional jazz. Bring a beverage of your choice, and appetizer or dessert and your friends. ADMISSION: A contribution to Bread & Water Haitian Relief Program. Neighborhood Meeting 7-8 PM l Tuesday, April 20, 2010 St. Michael & All Angels' Episcopal Church - Sturtevant Hall 6408 Bridgewood Road (Bridgewood @ Trenholm) Please join the Forest Acres Neighborhood Assocation for its quarterly community meeting to get the latest & greatest news from the Forest Acres Police Department & the City of Forest Acres. We'll learn about a new initiative of the Forest Acres Appearance Commission and get a preview of upcoming events in Forest Acres. Refreshments provided by Chipotle Mexican Grill & Bruegger's. Forest Acres Spring Fling Friday, April 23, 2010 l 6-9 PM Trenholm Park Come out for an evening of free family fun in Forest Acres! The Forest Acres Neighborhood Association, the Richland County Recreation Commission, the City of Forest Acres & WXRY have teamed up to host a SPRING FLING at Trenholm Park. This FREE family event will feature something for everyone - games & activities, health screenings, safety seminars, entertainment & a community fair. Admission and all activities are FREE, although we do request a food donation for Harvest Hope Food Bank. The recreation league will be offering inexpensive food items ($3-5/person) for your convenience. The Big Nosh, a Celebration of Everything Jewish Sunday, April 25, 2010 l 11 AM - 7 PM Tree of Life Congregation - North Trenholm Road The Big Nosh is the first annual event to celebrate "everything Jewish" including food, entertainment and education. There will be Jewish foods to nosh in or take out, musical performances, children's activities, raffles and prizes and much more. Make challah, bite a knish, blow a shofar and dance the hora!
